FIELD TRAINING OFFICER

Basic Field Training Officer

This five day program is based upon a First Line Supervision course which offers the new FTO skills in evaluation, motivation, and role and responsibility of the Field Training Officer. Students also get an understanding of the "San Jose Model" and its values in detemining the length and scope of their department policy. Training will include the role of the FTO coordinator and the Chief in the decision-making process and scenario testing of the students ability to justify their decisions in critical situations. This program is Tennessee P.O.S.T., Kentucky and Indiana certified.

Developing a Field Training Supervisor Program

This two day program will offer a training model for the Field Training of newly appointed police supervisors. Students will be provided with a disk containing sample evaluation forms.

Implementing a Field Training Supervisor Program

This three day program will train Field Training Officers for the process of training and evaluating newly appointed police supervisors. Training will focus on evaluation techniques; documentation; and legal aspects.
