Search and Seizure Law Update 8 hours

This one day program brings the student with the latest court decisions from the state and federal levels and attempts to define terms which the line officers generally have difficulty.

 

Writing Effective Search Warrants 8 hours

This one day class explains to students the items which must be incorporated into a search warrant in order to withstand a Motion to Suppress. Students are provided with "good" and "bad" examples and are given "facts" in order to write a search warrant in the afternoon.

 

The Police Defendant 8 hours

This one day program focuses on the issues which face police officers as defendants in both civil and criminal actions. Use of Force, False arrest, Illegal Search and Seizure, Automobile crashes, and the Garrity rule are explained. Students are told when they should retain private counsel in order to represent their interests, and the courtroom technique they need.

 

Testifying in Court 8 hours

This one day program will offer the student a total perspective of the courtroom by featuring a Judge, Prosecutor and a Defense Attorney who will each define their responsibilities in a case. Each will offer their opinions as to the problems police witnesses encounter in a courtroom setting.
